Dear LV Families,

Happy Summer! Congratulations to all on another successful school year! 

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone in our vibrant community for remaining steadfast in their commitment to every student. Loma Verde is a place where everyone believes that we are all interconnected and that our success is inherently tied to each other’s success. We believe that our joy is greatly magnified when shared with each other. We believe that we are stronger when we hold each other and lift each other up! 

Thank you for your partnership in providing our students with countless opportunities at school and beyond. We have had assemblies such as Drum Heads, BMX, Cousin Danny, Marc Grifiths Be You Ventriloquist assembly, and more. Our students have gone on field trips to restore watersheds and release salmon. They have visited Sacramento, Oracle Park, Academy of Sciences, Oakland Zoo, Tunnel Tops park, Call of the Sea, and more. We have had visits from Wild Care, Colonial History/Gold Rush program and the Discovery Museum. 

We started off the year with a record breaking fundraiser with the Fun Run and had an incredibly successful auction in the spring. Our Grounds Beautification team and Green Team made sure that our campus looked beautiful and helped us continue to establish sustainable practices. We celebrated Days of Play, Snow Days, Hot Chocolate Days, and bouncy ball surprises! 

We continued to celebrate student success at our Morning Meetings run beautifully by Ms. Tokarski. We danced, sang, and woke up all of Novato doing Motion with Mr. Malone. We had BBQ’s, picnics, and send-offs! There were publishing parties and presentations. We painted murals and sang holiday songs together. We had so many spirit days -  green or Loma gear, sports gear, pajama days, dress like a teacher day and many more! 

We celebrated being honored as a California Distinguished School! We celebrated growth in CAASPP and Galileo! We celebrated decreasing our Chronic Absenteeism rate and increasing our Average Daily Attendance! We celebrated growth in reading and math. We recognized positive behavior through Bear Bravos and shout outs! 

There is so much to be grateful for and so much that should make us all proud! 

I wish you all a wonderful summer and hope you all find time to spend with each other doing the things that bring you joy. I hope the change of pace helps everyone reset. I hope your children find opportunities to be bored so that their curiosity and creativity takes hold. I hope your summer is peaceful and relaxing. 

It is an absolute honor serving as the principal of this wonderful school! Your children are a gift and I am humbled that I am charged with creating a  loving community that nurtures and supports their young lives. Thank you for your trust, your support, your input, and your partnership.

Heggerty's Summer Support Program provides you with everything you need to mitigate summer regression and prepare your learners for what's next in their reading journey!

2024-2025 Theme - We Fit Together! Cabemos Juntos!
As many of you know, I like to start each new year with a particular theme. This overarching theme serves as a way to provide coherence and sets the tone for our  work during the year. 
Every new school year brings with it a variety of changes and new adventures. Even with changes that every year brings, I always rest easy knowing that the spirit and promise of Loma Verde remains intact. There may be new pieces every year, but the important thing is that all pieces fit together to create the wonderful community of Loma Verde. This year, I want every student, staff member, and community member to feel like they belong and that they are a critical piece of our success! We are all Loma Verde and we all fit together! 
As always, I invite you to partner with us and model the essence of our theme for our children. I encourage you all to extend a hand to each other and join in to carry the load. I invite you to come volunteer and help out in whatever way you are able. I want every member of our community to know that they are valued and that everyone can contribute in a meaningful and productive way. We are complete when we are working together!
